An End of Life Doula provides non-medical support to individuals and their loved ones during (or planning for) the final stages of life.
There are many important decisions to make about the end of our life, and EOLDs can walk alongside families during this time by offering:
Being an End of Life Doula is not all about death. It’s quite the opposite, actually. That is why I prefer the term “end of life” rather than “Death Doula” (not to say there is anything wrong with the term!)
Working with others on planning for their end of life has quite a bit to do with how they want to live while keeping their quality of life in mind.
End-of-life doulas support overall well-being and empower individuals to live fully till the end.
The benefits of utilizing an end-of-life doula apply to the family & caretakers as well!
We always hear people say “I just wish I knew what to do” after an unexpected death or health decline. Everyone wants to honor those they love and respect their wishes, but if they aren’t sure they are making the right choices, they can become riddled with fear and guilt.
This can be especially important when your health takes an unexpected turn and your time with your family/friends is limited. The last thing most people want to think about in those moments is logistics, they want to spend those last moments soaking in the time you have left.
My wish is for every person to be at peace in their final moments. To feel that their life mattered and that they will be remembered.
